This week, Angelina Aucello from Angelina Travels is back on the show to talk about Hyatt’s recent addition to select SLH properties to the World of Hyatt program. Following that, Ed welcomes Zachary Abel of Monkey Miles to M2G for the first time! Zachary (and his pal Miles the Monkey) is an expert on OneWorld and Alaska Airlines programs and shares a ton of great award sweet spots that some beginners might not know of. He’s also got some great insight on what could happen if Alaska Airlines did in fact join OneWorld. Last but not least, in this week’s TF2P, Ed gets called out by his buddy for his “humble brag” of never having been to Hawaii.

Ed — Mea Culpa!!!! I listened on my browser and the sound is PERFECT. No compression. So, I fired up my Google Podcasts App and discovered a little area where one could (accidently) click to “Trim Silence” and somehow, I had clicked it. It’s now unclicked. And, all is well! Thanks. It was all on my end!
Thanks for the quick reply! I initially thought it was my Google Podcasts App, but I only noted this with your two podcasts… Odd. I’ll keep listening. Could your server do it??
Geoffrey,
I don’t think that’s something a server could do. But, it is possible we made some changes. We’re always trying to improve. I’ll be curious to hear your thoughts on EP43 audio.
Hi Ed, I enjoy both of your podcasts but I have an audiophile and acoustic concern that I’ve noticed over at least the past few episodes. You seem to be using some sort of compressor to delete dead space between words. Especially on the commercials. Also I detect that you have sped up the playback rate. People don’t speak that rapidly. And people take breaths between words.
I enjoy the content but I find these acoustic edits annoying and uncomfortable. They actually hurt my ears. It’s too much. Can you please go back to a more natural voice. Thanks.
Geoffrey, I am decidedly not an audio expert, though I do want high quality audio for all of our podcasts. I’m not aware of any changes we’ve made recently, but I’ll ask to see if we have made any changes. The upcoming episode with Richard and I is being edited by a new editor, so we may see some differences there. Thanks for being a fan of the show and for letting me know your concerns!
