We woke up this morning to a big change about the Southwest Airlines Companion Pass. The most valuable airline benefit in the US is now tougher to earn! They also eliminated the expiration of Rapid Rewards points. If we’re talking Southwest Airlines, that means my friend Jen from Deals We Like is on the show with us. Over reactive obnoxious bloggers piss me off. It’s just a 10% increase in requirements since so many people have the pass now. Simple supply and demand. No major changes .. actually no changes to the companion pass itself. What kind of jerk has a title like that.
Matthew, I believe I’m the jerk who has a title like that. And, if we’re going to bring math into the equation, it’s a 13.6% increase. For the average person, finding a way to accrue 15,000 more points is not an easy task. It might be for you, but plenty of folks will have trouble scoring another 15,000 points.
