Hi Ed,
I can barely understand what Richard is saying in this episode. It sounds like some bad satellite phone connection. I know I mentioned the bad voice quality with Zach before, but Richard’s voice quality was again not possible to understand while commuting or at the gym.
I fully understand you are trying to incorporate experts who travel a lot, but are there perhaps better connection types for those people? Did he use just a regular phone to call in? For example I know when using an iPhone using Facetime Audio (over a good internet connection) is much clearer than a standard phone call. Or perhaps you can require minimum call-quality standards for having experts on call?
Thanks so much for creating your podcast. It’s my favorite to listen to these days!
MK, I listened to Richard’s audio again just to make sure I wasn’t missing something. I understand that the audio quality isn’t perfect, but I can understand him. Can you hear the rest of the audio okay in that episode? Maybe I’ll have to send Richard a microphone!
Hi Ed,
The rest of the audio is crystal clear. Both you and Summer sound like you recorded in a studio together. But Richard’s audio is very bad. Did you listen to the recording with background noise (i.e. while commuting on a subway/driving, in a gym, etc.) or in a quiet office? I agree that in a quiet office I can understand him, but the only time I am in a quiet setting is either at work (where I need to focus on work and not listen to podcasts), or at home when I have dinner with my wife (where I should not be listening to podcasts either).
Maybe I should also clarify that I listen to the podcast while driving with the iPhone speakers turned to maximum, as my car does not have bluetooth connectivity. Furthermore we cannot legally wear headphones while driving here in California
I should add that there are about 6 different podcasts I am subscribed to (NPR, etc.), and I am able to hear them all without any problems for years. I only have problems understanding the audio on MilestoGo during some rare call-in segments: Zach in episode 35(?), and Richard on this episode.
